The Clerk of the District Court is one of the most essential — and often least understood — roles in local government. Here's what this office actually does:
Official Record Keeper of the Court — Maintains accurate and complete records for felony criminal cases, civil cases, domestic relations, juvenile matters, and other district court proceedings.
Manages Court Filings & Case Documents — Receives, processes, and files legal documents submitted by judges, attorneys, law enforcement, and the public.
Supports Judges & Court Operations — Assists judges by managing court calendars, orders, judgments, and case flow to ensure proceedings move efficiently.
Handles Financial Transactions — Collects, records, and distributes court-ordered fees, fines, bonds, restitution, and costs in accordance with state law.
Serves the Public & Legal Community — Acts as a primary point of contact for individuals navigating the court system, providing information and access to public court records.
Ensures Compliance with Law & Procedure — Follows Nebraska statutes, court rules, and policies to ensure cases and records are handled correctly and consistently.
Maintains Confidential & Sensitive Information — Protects confidential records while ensuring appropriate public access as required by law.
Works Closely with Justice Partners — Coordinates with judges, attorneys, law enforcement, probation, corrections, and other agencies within the justice system.

Strong Records & Compliance Background — Experienced in managing processes that require strict adherence to statutes, policies, and detailed record-keeping — the core function of the Clerk's office.
Trusted Partner to Court Staff & Justice System Partners — Built lasting professional relationships with court staff, judges, attorneys, law enforcement, and county leadership through consistent professionalism, communication, and follow-through.
Commitment to Accuracy & Detail — Experienced in handling sensitive information, legal deadlines, and high-stakes processes where accuracy is critical and errors have real consequences.
Public-Service Focused — Understands that the Clerk's office is often the public's first interaction with the court system and is committed to making that experience respectful, clear, and accessible for every resident.
Non-Partisan, Professional Approach — Believes the Clerk of the District Court should operate independently of politics and focus solely on carrying out the law fairly, consistently, and with integrity.
Ready on Day One — Brings the experience, institutional knowledge, and leadership foundation needed to step into this role without disruption — for the court, the staff, or the public.
